I’m happy to announce I’ve been invited to create Afridrilles designs for Ubuntu Life!
Afridrilles are an African canvas shoe inspired by Spanish espadrilles.
Ubuntu Life and Zazzle are partners in the Zazzle Heart program, where every purchase brings life-changing healthcare and education to Kenyan families.
This opportunity combines two things which are meaningful to me; care for special needs children and being a Zazzle creator.
Ubuntu’s “Maker Studio” sits on 11 acres, in Maai Mahiu, Kenya. It is here Ubuntu locally sources materials and handcrafts their products. This allows Ubuntu to pass cost-savings and profits onto their employees, investing in their well-being and that of the local community.
Ubuntu provides their “Makers” with sustainable employment, living wages well above the Maai Mahiu standard, and health insurance.
Through their Ubuntu Life Foundation, Ubuntu delivers medical care and education to children with special needs in the region. In 2022, the foundation opened a 22,000-square-foot Children's Wellness Center. The center houses a special needs school, pediatric medical facility, walk-up pharmacy, community health education space, and a therapy center.
